Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League 2nd ANNUAL
"Cruzin for Critters"
POKER RUN
Was a GREAT Success
Thanks to all of you who participated!!
Gene and Jane Hatfield gave their Ford Aerostar Van to the Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter in a ceremony at the Animal Protection League’s monthly meeting in August. Shelter personnel have begun using the van to transport dogs and cats to veterinary appointments and to adoption events at Pet Smart in Conway. The Hatfields were thanked by Shelter manager Katie Cason for their generous gift. In addition to "thanks" the Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League, a 501C3 Not-for-Profit Corporation is also able to provide donors with a value receipt that is tax deductible. Besides money, the Shelter accepts gifts of value that can be used in the care of animals in the Shelter or re-sold at the Shelter’s Thrift Shop on Old Quarry Rd in Fairfield Bay. Donors and persons interested in volunteering to assist in the care of the homeless animals at the Shelter should call 501 884-6417 for information.

"Pet Wash"
The annual Fairfield Bay Pet Wash was held Friday August 5th at the Woodland Mead Park Pavilion. Experienced volunteers from the Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League, with assistance from local veterinarian employees will took on every size dog…and willing cats. Both pets and volunteers alike got a welcome relief from the heat with a generous soaking.
"Annual Treasures Sale"
This year’s sale helped the Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter to a great extent, so we wanted to thank all of the volunteers that turned out in force to work the sale and to all of you who supported the shelter by attending and generously sharing. Thank you!
Buffalo River Daze
The Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter had a meet and greet for some of our soon-to-be-pets at the annual Buffalo River Daze. The festival is held at the fairgrounds in Marshal and features a variety of events including a craft fair and dog show, plus many other attractions. Two of our dogs found forever homes at the show. Featured above are Eddie (middle left) with his new kids and Blaze (middle right) with her new Mom.
The Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter Open House News
The Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter Open House showcased all of the great things that has been accomplished over the last few months. Everyone liked the new, brighter decore of the facility and were proud of how well all of the "guests" looked. There was a variety of refreshments served and everyone enjyed themselves. The shelter has adopted two (seen above right) for their very own. They serve as greeters and accompany guests as they tour the facility. Over $280.00 was raised and two kittens, Hefner and Hugo, found forever homes during the event. You don't have to wait for a special event to tour the shelter. Just come by during office hours and visit or volunteer to take a stroll with one of the "guests".
Animal Shelter Featured in The Arkansas Democrat - Gazette
The Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter was featured in the Arkansas Democrat - Gazette's regional section on Sunday, May 22, 2011. It was a very nice write-up and showcased the shelter in a very nice light. So much so that a young boy from Connecticut donated $10.00 from his birthday money. Thank you Arkansas Democrat - Gazette.
Shelter Success Story
This beautiful Weimaraner was found, along with another, abandoned and in a seriously malnourished state. While the other dog was unable to be saved, this beautiful animal is responding well to treatment and putting on weight. She should be ready for adoption in a month or so and the new owner will be getting a wonderful companion. If you are interested, please contact the Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter. **update** Luv was rescued by Ar. Weimeraner Rescue!
Chesapeake Aids Animal Shelter
The Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League, once again, wishes to extend our heart felt thanks to Chesapeake for their generosity. Robert Zeiler presented a $1,000.00 check from Chesapeake to Angela Worrell, APL Treasurer and Bob Holiday, APL President Elect. Their donations come at a time when funds are needed and greatly appreciated.
